Specialist UK general insurer, IGI Insurance Company, has joined the Legal Expenses Insurance Group (LEIG).

The LEIG was established in 2006 by a number of leading legal expenses insurers and intermediaries to help protect and advance the rights of claimants to justice and fair levels of compensation.

By reviewing legislative, trade body and regulatory proposals that concern issues of compensation, the Group then provides information and comment on these current issues to ensure the interests of consumers and legal expenses policyholders are protected.

There are currently nine members of the Group and it is estimated that these members account for over half of the BTE and ATE legal expenses insurance market.
