Appointment coincides with major contract win
Specialist UK general insurer, IGI Group ("IGI"), has created and filled a new senior position as a result of an ongoing strategic review of its operations.
Tim Corcoran has been appointed as business development and agency manager for the Group and will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with intermediaries and brokers.
He joins from Lombard Business Finance, where he was regional insurance sales manager ' London, and brings with him a wealth of general insurance experience. In particular he has significant experience of GAP insurance, a specialist product area for IGI, and he will be tasked with driving growth in this business class.
Mr Corcoran's arrival at IGI coincides with the announcement that GAP insurance specialist, Direct Gap, has chosen IGI to underwrite all of its GAP policies. IGI's strategy of providing bespoke solutions to intermediary partners was instrumental in the decision.
Rad Danic, director at Direct Gap, said: "We were looking to work with someone who offered tailored and well thought out solutions for our customers. Insurers who we have worked with in the past have been very limited in the products they have provided. IGI offers four GAP products, which means we have the flexibility to offer a product to suit all our customers' needs'.
Keith Wardell, managing director of IGI Group, said: "We are currently undergoing a strategic review of our operations to ensure the optimum organisational structure is in place to support the business. The new role, which Tim has been appointed to, will strengthen our existing team and ensure we continue to meet the needs of our partners.
"Our recent success of securing the Direct Gap contract is a positive step towards our expansion in this market and we are confident Tim's knowledge and experience will further strengthen this,' added Mr Wardell.
This year IGI will have representatives from its new legal expenses division, IGI Legal Assist, as well as product specialists for its caravan, residential let property and other product offerings at BIBA. Brokers are invited to visit the IGI team at stand H17.
